Apple has a new partner to ship its touch panels – Chimei Innolux. The company will start shipping components in June, according to sources in the biz. This could help with the production of the iPad 2 and we must mention that Chimei is a Foxconn affiliate.
Chimei develops IPS flat panels and the company adds to a list of other Apple partners, such as LG Display (primary supplier) and Samsung. LG is supposed to ship 3 million iPad panels by the end of the month, one million more than in April. By Q3, LG Display might even reach 4 million units shipped per month.
Chimei won’t replace LG or Samsung, but it will only add to the shipment figures.
